SMART workforce has been developed to support NHS and healthcare organisations to better support, develop, retain and integrate new roles and to identify, map and address workforce development needs collectively as well as for individual healthcare professionals.

SMART was developed initially to systematically mobilise the recent growth of the clinical pharmacist role using Soar Beyond’s heritage of developing and delivering these services to the NHS. However, it soon became apparent to NHS organisations that the very same competency assessment tools, capability mapping functionality and service management was equally valuable and needed for any of the new MDT roles in primary care.

Therefore, SMART can now be commissioned specifically for clinical pharmacists and is growingly being adopted by a wide range of healthcare organisations to support both clinical, non-clinical and even administrative roles as it sets clear expectations, development planning and growth of individuals and teams
